Amarillo Family Institute has been serving the Amarillo area since 1995. Our goal remains to provide the best in individual, marital, and family therapy. We strive to establish quality relationships with clients in order to resolve such problems as anxiety, depression, destructive anger and addiction. We also are highly committed to solving relational issues between spouses, parents and children or extended family members. Currently we have groups dealing with destructive anger and chronic illness concerns and provide opportunity for education regarding sexual addiction. Our counselors are also involved in providing group marital intensive counseling for couples who are not responding to traditional therapy.

Learn how to become aware of destructive anger and what to do about it. We will help you learn what anger is, where it comes from, its consequences, and appropriate ways to express it.

The offices of Amarillo Family Institute offer a range of therapeutic services. Therapy services include: individual, marriage, family, pre-marital, grief, anger management, addictions, children and adolescents, and chronic illness therapies.
Individual therapy focuses on well-being on an individual basis. Specific attention is given to the individual’s goals, beliefs, and personal empowerment. Various therapeutic techniques are used to help the individual process multiple life experiences.
Marital therapy works to help couples understand the under-lying pain in the midst of relationship. Therapists work to provide intergenerational understanding through insight and experientially focused therapies aimed at increasing true satisfaction in marriage.
Family therapy at AFI focuses upon the family as a system and the various roles, expectations, and issues associated with those roles. With relationships as the primary focus, therapists work to help families integrate themselves within a healthy functioning system.
Prior to the wedding day, therapists help couples establish a deeper understanding of communication, finances, sexuality, and healthy couple functioning. Pre-marital therapy aims to bring awareness to individuals in an attempt to create cohesion between the couple.
Grief as a result of loss, death, or dying can be one of the hardest journeys a person may experience. Therapies focus upon education, understanding, sharing memories and normalizing to help individuals, couples, and families process loss in a way that provides companionship in the midst of extreme pain.
Working to help process the reality of anger in one’s life, anger management therapy aims to integrate the underlying issues responsible for causing anger, frustration, and bitterness. Anger management services range from individual to group sessions.
Those Who Struggle With Addictions
Therapists at AFI work to help with gambling, porn and substance addictions. Specializing in a range of therapeutic techniques, therapy for those who struggle with addictions directs individuals away from the addictive behavior and towards a more rounded, healthy lifestyle.
Children and Adolescents Counseling
Child and adolescent therapeutic services work with individuals and families from ages 6-17. Therapists work from a systems perspective to addresses issues from attention deficit hyperactivity disorder to processing divorce.
Chronic Illness Counseling
Chronic illness therapy guides individuals, couples, and families through the processes ranging from diagnosis to remission. Chronic illness includes illness that can be controlled, but not cured. Therapy is focused on changing the mindset of illness into an attitude of wellness, living with purpose. Therapists aim to provide tender, knowledgeable care through this painful time.
